A brief update this time as we are running on weekend after another at present.
As usual this year the weather did its best to dampen the day on the 15th July for the latest round of The Castle
Combe GTs. We qualified on wets on a damp track and got to 5th on the grid by the end of the session.
The race was delayed for an hour and a half and shortened to 10 laps because of the number of incedents throughout
the day. We went out on slicks this time as the track was wet but drying. I got the tyres hooked up really well on the start
and was in front going into Quarry on the first lap, with no on in front it's very difficult to see just how much grip you
have (check out the video to see). At the end of lap one Mark funnell Took the lead up the inside going in to camp. He then
exteded his lead to about 5 seconds. For the next 5 laps the gap stayed the same. The Saftey car was dispatched on lap 6 to
allow the marshalls to clear up some of the abandoned cars. This gave me the chance to cah up with Mark but also gave Rob
Clarke the chance to catch up with me. On the restart we all arrived at Qarry about the same time, Rob pulled of a fantastic
pass up the inside to demote me to 3rd. He then muscled his way past Mark to take the lead at the Esses. I got past Mark in
a replay of his pass on me at Camp then set off after Rob but could not make any time on him. So the race finished Rob 1st,
me 2nd. A fantastic drive by Rob and well earned maiden win.
2nd was my best ever finish as well but as Rob won we have dropped a place in the championship.
All to fight for now on the 4th August!
